Description

This homemade gelatin is a fun, no-fuss treat that’s easy to make and perfect for the whole family. With just three simple ingredients, you can create a wobbly, jiggly snack that’s healthier and tastier than store-bought versions. Customize the flavor with your favorite fruit juice, and enjoy a naturally sweetened delight that kids and adults will love!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fruit juice (apple, grape, or your favorite mix)
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored beef gelatin (such as Vital Proteins or Great Lakes)
  • 2 tablespoons honey, agave, or cane sugar (optional)

Instructions

  • Bloom the Gelatin: In a small bowl or measuring cup, pour in ½ cup of juice. Sprinkle the gelatin powder over it, stir quickly, and let it sit for 5 minutes until thickened.
  • Heat the Remaining Juice: Pour the remaining 3½ cups of juice into a saucepan over medium-high heat until steaming hot (but not boiling).
  • Melt the Gelatin: Add the bloomed gelatin and sweetener (if using) to the hot juice. Stir continuously until the gelatin is fully dissolved and smooth.
  • Set the Gelatin: Pour the mixture into a heatproof dish (such as an 8×8 or 9×9 pan). Cover and refrigerate for 3-4 hours, until firm.
  • Serve & Store: Slice into squares or cut into fun shapes. Store in the fridge for up to 7-10 days, best enjoyed within 4-5 days.

Notes

  • Allow the gelatin to bloom fully for the best texture.
  • Use steaming hot juice to dissolve the gelatin completely.
  • Mix different juices for unique flavor combinations (e.g., orange and pineapple).
  • Avoid highly acidic juices like pineapple or kiwi, as they can prevent proper setting.
