about
after a couple of years working towards relocating our personal chef business to a commercial location, we found a home for simplyummy in Reynolda Village! "we loved the history of the Village and the specific history of the blacksmith shop." our new location was originally the reynolda farm blacksmith shop where metals were hand worked for use on the farm and horses were brought for shoeing. we exposed the original forge and discovered a lot of history with the help of Richard Murdoch and, of course, Cute Todd (the archivists for Reynolda House) and Old Salem.
we also chose to learn about the other bit of history linked to our new location. Joe King (a notable local artist) relocated his art studio to our new home in 1946 and occupied this spot for fifty years. we met with Earline King to better understand this historical perspective and she graciously donated pictures of Joe and herself to display in our shop. with a location so rich in incredible history, we knew this was the perfect spot to begin a new history - simplyummy, our coffeehouse and cafe!
we relocated our business to Reynolda Village in 2003. over the years, we have added counter service where we offer organic coffee & espresso roasted by Counter Culture of durham, nc, conventional & organic loose leaf teas from TREX teahouse of charlotte, nc, ODWALLA juices, hormone-free dairy from julian, nc, in-house baked breakfast yummies and desserts, and lunch. our lunch menu includes entrees, salads and sandwiches. we have found organic flour for our baked goods milled in graham, nc, free-range eggs from mcleansville, nc, and preservative-free/chemical-free breads for our sandwiches right here in winston-salem.
our cafe is full of art from our featured artist (who changes every two months or so) to our tabletops created by a variety of local artists! we also have free internet access so you can sip and surf at the same time.
